The Australian-born rapper now owes approximately $661,000 in back taxes.
Tyrone William Griffin Jr., a rapper, songwriter and record producer known by his stylized nickname “Ty Dolla $ign,” is now seeing a big dollar sign from the Internal Revenue Service.
The IRS filed a tax lien against Griffin, alleging that he owes $180,969.35 in back taxes for the years 2011, 2013 and 2014, according to reporting by celebrity news website TMZ.
Griffin is known for his singles “Paranoid,” “Or Nah and “Blasé,” the latter of which was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America.
Griffin’s music blends together elements of hip-hop and R&B, and he has resisted the label of being a rapper. “I still sing, man,” Griffin told Complex. “I’m a singer, ya feel me?”
